Relocation is Key to Petrochemical Jobs

Petrochemical jobs are very rewarding in money terms. Petrochemical jobs are secure careers with all the expected benefits associated with big and profitable companies. Petrochemical jobs very often require relocation. Petrochemical job recruiting companies use 'relocation' as a euphemism for packing up your life and family, cutting emotional ties to your home and moving lock stock and barrel to where the oil is.

For example take a good look at this typical petrochemical job advert. It was put out by one of Canada's and the World's largest petrochemical conglomerates. What strikes you most about this job advert for an electrician?

Boundary Lake is located 60 kilometers east of Fort St John. The Boundary Lake operation consists of 400 wells, a gas conservation plant, fresh and produced water injection systems and 3 main oil batteries.

You will be accountable for maintenance, PM and optimization of the high voltage system and all electrical equipment. You will operate within all standards, policies, procedures and business plans. You have a solid technical understanding of the electrical code and electrical practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Planning, scheduling and supervising electrical journeyman crews and personnel

· Executing specific activities defined within the preventative maintenance program to maintain the integrity of the electrical equipment and high voltage grid in the district

· Demonstrating ability and initiative to improve or modify existing systems or procedures

· Assisting in root cause and cost benefit analysis to reduce cost and eliminate recurring problems

You will have a high school diploma. An Electrician and/or Lineman Journeyman Certificate is desired. High voltage experience is an asset.

This position is not a camp job. Company transportation is provided to and from Boundary Lake daily. The selected candidate would need to reside in, or relocate to Fort St John or the surrounding area.
